What is the best way to take the online course?

The Food Manager has 85 multiple choice questions and will have approx 2 hours to take the exam. Completion times range from 45 minutes and up.

How long does the exam take?

Our online courses are broken down into small sections.  The sections contain a combination of instructional lectures, videos, and practice quizzes. Best of all they can be completed using a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet access. 

Which course do I need, the Food Manager Course or the Food Handler course?

​My Food Service License provides online Food Protection Manager, Handler and HACCP courses that are self-paced.  Our courses can be completed in one day or over 30 days;  complete them at your own pace!

Yes, once you complete the course, we send you all the required paperwork to submit to your city or state.

Yes, all Certified Food Protection Manager examinations (NOT FOOD HANDLER)  must  be supervised by an exam proctor.  The ANSI-CFP accredited certification exam is provided through the Pearson Vue testing centers.  Upon completion of our course you will be given instructions on how to register for you exam and the registration can be completed online. Pearson Vue has over 1500 several locations throughout the United States.  Click the link to find what Test Centers are near you. 

Does my exam need to be proctored?

After purchasing your course, you will receive your course access key within 24 hours of completing the registration questionnaire.  


No,  Illinois changed the law in 2014 and no longer offers the refresh option.  The new process is the same for all applicants either seeking a sanitation certification for the first time or renewing.  All steps must be completed in order.  1.  Students must take an 8 hour accredited training course.  2.  Students must pass a proctored exam with a score of 75% or higher.  3.  All paperwork including proof of hours, and test results must be submitted for processing.  

Can I take the exam online?

Your ANSI-CFP certification as valid for five years. However, some state and local jurisdictions and company policies will only recognize the certification as valid for three years. Check with your local regulatory requirements and your employer policies to verify how long your certificate is valid. You will want to recertify based on the shortest time period that is recognized in your jurisdiction.

How long will it take before I receive my certification?

I need a City of Chicago or State of Illinois managers license, is this the right course?

The Food Handler License is available immediately upon completing the course.  This certification is printed out directly from a computer.

The Manager Certification will arrive in 7-10 business days of passing the exam.     

It is required that at any given time that there are people in the facility one person must have a managers certification.  If you are the manager, supervisor or chef that will be in charge you need the Manager Course.  If you are a worker and will be handling food but not in charge you need the food handler course.   Check your local jurisdiction for requirements or contact us for state specific requirements.    

Do I need to purchase the course textbook for the Manager Course?

The choice is yours!  Desktop computer, laptop, tablet and smart phone are all capable as long as you have an internet connection.   We even have a mobile app for our Food Manager Course.

How long is my food protection manager certificate good for?

My licensed expired, can I take a refresher course and the exam like I did in the past?
