Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) is required by Section 750.540 of the Illinois Food Service Sanitation Code.
The My Food Service License State of Illinois and City of Chicago Certified Food Protection Manager course provides food safety training,exams and educational materials to foodservice managers. Students will earn their nationally accredited certification upon passing the proctored exam with a score of 75% or higher. The certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP).
The program blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and years of food sanitation training experience. State Requirements: Food Safety Manager on duty at all times and Food Handlers must take an ANSI/ASTM 2659 approved course. After completing an ANSI-accredited certification, the State of Illinois and City of Chicago require one more step to obtain a Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate. Applicants must submit an application to the State of Illinois or City of Chicago. My Food Service License will guide you through this process.

Manager Training Hours: Manager Training Hours: Effective July 1, 2014, 8 hours of training is required. All training must be approved by the Illinois Department of Health.
Food Handler Course: Must be a ANSI/ASTM 2659 approved course.
Food Manager Certification and Food Handler Certificate Renewal: Food Manager every 5 years; Food Handler every 3 years.
A food handler is defined by law as a person who works in a food facility and performs any duties that involve the preparation, storage or service of food in a food facility. This program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) against the ASTM standard and is available for use in Illinois. Exam is given at the end of the course and is not proctored. Course fee includes; course, exam and state specific food handlers card.
Who is required to have a Food Handlers Certification in Illinois? Any food handler working in Illinois, unless that person has a valid Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) or unpaid volunteer. If someone working in a facility is not a food handler on a regular basis, but fills in as a food handler when needed, they must have food handler training.

Upon successful completion of your course and test, you will print your Food Handler Card.
