The Certified Food Protection Manager Certification (CFPM) is required by Section 750.540 of the Illinois Food Service Sanitation Code.
The My Food Service License State of Illinois and City of Chicago Certified Food Protection Manager course provides food safety training,exams and educational materials to foodservice managers. Students will earn their nationally accredited certification upon passing the exam with a score of 75% or higher. The certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP).

State Requirements: Certified Food Protection Manager on duty at all times and Food Handlers must take an ANSI/ASTM 2659 approved course. After completing an ANSI-accredited certification, the City of Chicago requires one more step to obtain a City of Chicago Food Protection Manager Certificate. Applicants must submit an application to the City of Chicago. My Food Service License will guide you through this process.

Food Manager Certification and Food Handler Certificate Renewal: Food Manager every 5 years; Food Handler every 3 years.
A food handler is defined by law as a person who works in a food facility and performs any duties that involve the preparation, storage or service of food in a food facility. Our course provides Food Handlers the confidence to effectively serve safe food. This program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) against the ASTM standard and is available for use in Illinois. Exam is given at the end of the course and is not proctored. Course fee includes; course, exam and state specific food handlers card.
Who is required to have a Food Handlers Certification in Illinois? Any food handler working in Illinois, unless that person has a valid Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) or unpaid volunteer. If someone working in a facility is not a food handler on a regular basis, but fills in as a food handler when needed, they must have food handler training.
